Mustard blossoms at Almaden Meadows Park in South San Jose were a must-see stop for The Flower Photographer of Silicon Valley, Glenn Franco Simmons. On a leisurely weekend ride with his lovely wife a few years ago, Glenn saw these beautiful blossoms that have not yet returned to the amount seen in this photo. Hopefully, 2017 will yield another bumper crop of mustard blossoms the Valley of Heart’s Delight (Silicon Valley’s more romantic moniker that many have forgotten).
The Floribunda Bon-Bon rose is a pink-blend that transitions to red, in some cases. It was bred by William A. Warriner (United States, 1974) and introduced by Jackson & Perkins Co. as Bon-Bon. Blooming in abundance throughout the rose-growing season, this beauty has a mild fragrance.
The Nicole rose is one of the most beautiful roses I’ve had the pleasure to photograph at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden in the heart of Silicon Valley. It blooms in mid- to late April each year. This photo’s texture has been softened for effect.
